Problems with COG update rate:
I find the COG when on a steady course in flat water varies by around +/-15deg.
This I assume could be caused by
gps accuracy
Refresh rate
?
I have been using iNavx for racing around the cans. I use an ipad mini2, cellular, but haven't bothered putting a SIM in it yet.
Possible solutions
Software fix in some setting in ipad
INav config
Put SIM in it, so it uses cellular
External GPS
??

Haging spent this much, not too worried about cost, need to get it done to do my tacticians role!

I'm having a little trouble understanding how to load raster chart files for MacEnc. It seems like this topic must have been covered long ago, but I can't find it.

The program came with a DVD labeled BSB 3, but it is unreadable.

The NOAA chart downloader results in a folder called BSB_ROOT, which contains many subfolders, each containing one or more files of .kap and .bsb formats.

From the chart manager window, if one selects BSB_ROOT, a box appears saying that it contains no charts. If one selects some (but not all) of the individual subfolders, they appear in the chart manager window with the first few characters of the name of the chart contained in each sub folder. Many of the subfolders appear in the chart manager window, but there is no indication that they contain any chart.

If one selects one of these (at random, since there is no way to determine which chart is which) and clicks the "scroll to" button, one can then toggle between raster and vector charts for that one location. But not any other location.

So: Is this the file structure that the program expects? Should I rearrange these files somehow so the charts are all in one folder? Which files?
Is there any way for MacENC to "know" which raster chart to toggle to, based on the location being viewed in vector mode?
It doesn't seem very useful like this, unless one just always stays on one chart.

1) Launch iNavX.

2) Go to the Chart setup either from the iNavX Preferences or from a displayed chart. When a chart is displayed select the gear button in the upper right hand corner.

3) Tap "Points of Interest" "Setup" button. Note: Points of Interest requires iOS 7 or later.

4) From the list choose the desired Waterway Guide. Note: you need to have previously purchased the guide from X-Traverse and have your X-Traverse account information entered in the "Account" in iNavX.

5) Select "Save" in the upper right hand corner to exit the Points Of Interest setup.

6) Select "Save" in the upper right hand corner to exit the Chart setup.

7) Tapping on the Waterway Guide icons (i.e. marina, anchor, bridge, etc.) on the chart will display detailed info about the specific points of interest.

8) The action button in the Points Of Interest detail view will allow navigation to, calling, or googling the point of interest.
