OPEN CPN on MAC NMEA 2000 Help Reqd
Posted by: Apevz85 - July 17, 2014 01:55 - Forum: General - No Replies

Im new to all this guys but basically i want to hook my mac into my NMEA network and use it to run OPEN CPN. I have a lowrence HDS 9 GEN 2 sounder / plotter that i want to obtain the data from my and populate through Open CPN. I am told my sounder / plotter outputs NMEA0183 which is confusing as i have a NMEA backbone that the VHF connects into the lowrance unit with ????. So i thought it was a lll NMEA 2000. I am not technologically gifted and all this is very new to me guys. So if there is anyone out there that can tell me what i need to do to get all this information on my Mac to use Open CPN id greatly appreciate the help.

  New to navigation
Posted by: diegokid - July 7, 2014 14:29 - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Looking for answers to this question.
I have a Macbook Pro and a Garmin GPS. Would I be better off using a iPad? If not which between MacENC and Navx would be the easiest to learn?

  Meaning of message
Posted by: antipole - July 7, 2014 04:31 - Forum: iNavX - Replies (1)

I am using iNavX on a cockpit iPad to display data from MacENC running on the chart table.

iNavX sometimes displays a message "WARNING - Waypoint from NMEA data unavailable”. Does anyone know how this comes about?

I imagine it has a route for which it does not have one of the included waypoints. But the message does not indicate which waypoint is missing or which route is involved.

Any explanation or help appreciated.
Tony

How to suppress own AIS vector?
Posted by: antipole - July 7, 2014 04:26 - Forum: iNavX - Replies (2)

I am using iNavX on a cockpit iPad to display data from MacENC running on the chart table.

iNavX displays two velocity vectors - yellow showing the predicted movement based on the navigation and orange from the AIS data.
The AIS data often lags behind the navigation data and when working at a very large scale the difference can be significant. I have, a few times, mistakenly used the orange vector instead of the yellow one and when manoeuvring in rocky channels that is unfortunate.

Is there any way of suppressing display of the orange vector? On McENC there is a useful ability to avoid display of one's own AIS position but I cannot find the equivalent in iNavX.

Any help appreciated
Tony

  Inavx AP Repeat on UDP
Posted by: cookm61gmail.com - July 1, 2014 23:10 - Forum: iNavX - Replies (1)

When connecting ipad to WLN10 on UDP the AP Repeat slider disappears. Is there some other way of connecting to AP to access this data?
