This weekend I will change from Official Australian ENC charts to Navionics Australian waters (32XG). After buying and downloading Navionics from X-Traverse, what is the procedure?

Specifically, do I delete the existing cells? Two of them cover the NE and SE Indian Ocean with, I think, more coverage than Navionics. Can I leave these two cells in the Chart Manager with the Navionics cells?

On a different tack; I have MacBook, 10.5.8, Core 2 Duo, 2.16 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 2.5GB of memory, 148GB hard drive with 71GB available. When I first loaded the eleven Official ENC cells a couple of years ago, MacENS opened and all the charts appeared very quickly. Now it takes around 10 seconds or more. Why is it so and can I speed it up?

What do you think is the expected life of a MacBook Pro?

Mine is 3 1/2 years old. I've replaced the battery and upgraded the hard drive. The screen has a dead pixel or two. Now that the new ones are out, I'm wondering if it's replacement time.

I was wondering if INavX on the iPad will have AIS capability? Where would an antenna lead connect to the iPad?

Thanks in advance. I am trying to figure out the best solution for our Grand Banks. We have INavX and have ordered an iPad 3G. We also have MacEnc on a MacbookPro but that is too large for the space we have. The iPad fits nicely but I am wondering about AIS.

I have MacEnc on my MacBook Pro, and can connect to my Raymarine E80 chartplotter. I am able to see my location on my MacBook via the E80 GPS, depth, Lat and Long etc. My BIG problem is I am unable to Transfer my routes and waypoints to the E80. Do you know what the problem is?

Also, MacEnc says that the transfer of Waypoints was successful, but they don't show up on my E80

OK, so I went to purchase GPSNAVX and it's unclear to me if I'm to get a download, serial number to plug in or have to wait for a box to arrive via snailmail...can someone shed some light.

Maybe because I was paying via PayPal and got the prompt for a mailing address, I'm thrown off on this project.

Also will this be tied to one machine in case I want to move it from one mac laptop to another this summer, I have a purchase coming up...and I know some products like POLAR are tied to one unit.

I'm land testing GPSNAVX and I'm not quite seeing how one raster map is handed to another like i've seen in other products.

When I'm doing live travel via GPS and the travel exits one map does the system know which one to connect to (assuming I have all posible maps loaded?).

The features of GPSNAVX are great but I'm not sure if this is a better solution then POLARNAVY. I'm traveling the great lakes and there 101 raster maps to know in my area.

Have you noticed that the latest version of the navionics iphone app overlays the nautical charts on google earth, apparently by using the shoreline as a boundary in the vector charts. It's pretty cool.

I read elsewhere on the forum that some of the Garmins use a proprietary waypoint format. http://www.macsailing.net/fbb/showtopic....5/tid/880/

What about RayMarine? Can I convert MacENC exported waypoints and write to the CF card?

I don't want to mess around with cables and moving my laptop to the chartplotter.

Any other common plotters that will allow me to plan with MacENC then transfer via the storage card?

Any idea if ipad is supported with the USB and a external GPS?
