I'm using INavX on my 3GS IPad.
I have the East Navionics Charts loaded
Trip was from the Patomac River in VA to Bar Harbor, ME

Overall - I have favorable impressions of the product. I was able to load my routes through X-Traverse and pull grib files with relative ease.

I do have a few comments which might be helpful for those looking to use the software.

During planning, it was annoying that the page shifted (to my home in KY) while moving up and down the coast. This happens repeatedly.

I used the email my location each day. There needs to be a way to lock down the from address in future versions of the application - now it defaults to a certain address (maybe alphabetic) it happens to be my home internet acct and you can't send unless you are on their wired network.

Also - you can create a group to send the location to, you just have to go to the group and select every member individually. I'm guessing this is a week point in the iPad mail/contacts app and not a true issue with INavX.

The (+) in the To: field is too close to the "send" button for us who have less than pencil sized fingers. I wanted to add a new contact to the send list and the email screen would disappear to the queue for outbound mail.

I used the system as a backup for the onboard Raymarine Chartplotter and it worked nicely. Pages updated quickly - I downloaded the charts to the iPad.

I look forward to seeing additional developments on the product and feel I made a good choice in my purchase.

Just wondering what the added value is In the HD version? I have synced my iPhone version across and it displays more or less full screen on the ipad, presumably as the iPhone 4 retina screen has more resolution than the 3GS.
I've looked at the navionics website and read what they say, I'm just not sure how different the HD will look, given that theiphone version has to work on the iPhone 4 anyway.

When I put the iPad to "sleep" will the anchor alarm continue to work? Is it annoyingly loud enough to wake? (Subjective of course but it needs to be more than a chime.)

Anyone out there used this as an anchor alarm? How about any of those other anchor alarm apps?

I'm a long time satisfied Raymarine/MacENC/X-Traverse user but still looking for a decent anchor alarm which won't run my battery down.

Anyone recommend a good vessel/yacht management application for the Mac? Something easy to use and inexpensive like First Mate Yacht Management - http://www.first-mate-software.com. It has:

- Tasks
- Maintenance
- Inventory
- Fuel Log
- Captains log.

Is there a way to batch upload a bunch of routes? I just inherited more than 150 SE Asia routes.

iNavX has the ability to connect to NMEA data (i.e. GPS, AIS, Instruments) via a WiFi connection. The source of the NMEA data can be a shared server, a PC / Mac, or WiFi multiplexer. All one needs to know is the IP address and the port of the server.

Hello,

I'm considering a purchase of iNavX to replace a really old Garmin chartplotter. It looks like I'll need to be connecting to my instruments via TCP/IP, but the iNavX docs only seem to mention this, but don't give a step-by-step how-to.

Their website shows a cable that they say connects via USB, but the cable end is definitely not USB.

Went out to the App Store to buy INavX and saw some really bad reviews. Is there any way I can try it before spending the $50 to get it. /Stu
