Just read today's Panbo link (http://www.panbo.com/archives/2010/03/dr....html#more), and it discusses the new (to me, anyway) Fugawi iMap (http://www.fugawi.com/web/products/fugawi_imap.htm). Apparently its' $5.00 intro price also includes a Xtraverse account. Anyone know if that account would function equally as well with iNavx?

I'm new here and wondering if anyone have suggestions on which GPS receiver would be best USB or bluetooth?
I'm willing to take my MacbookPro with GPSNavX onboard but will need the GPS receiver and not sure whether should go for the simple USB or bluetooth?
Any ideias?

The feature I miss the most from Nobeltec is the "home port" feature. This allowed you to enter a lat/Lon for your home port and easily move the boat to that position. It was very useful when plotting new routes without a GPS attached as you could always center the chart on your starting point. Let's face it, its easy to get "lost" on a chart when working with a small slice of it. Not to mention that scrolling charts on a laptop isn't always the fastest thing in the universe.

Any chance this feature is in the plans for a future a release?

Memory-Map just released their pre-announced iPhone app. There's a free trial version of it. It's an interesting app from developers who know what they're doing. I think it will be a welcome addition to the iPhone/boating app family.

I have been looking at Brookhouse a New Zealand company NMEA 0183 multiplexer for the Raymarine C/E series Chartplotters with the SeaTalk and USB options added,
cost $307 plus shipping.

Ok I am a Newbie here.

I have been run Macs for the last 20 years and have been looking at bring them aboard Ocean Dove to integrate with the Nav equipment I have aboard. I have just started to install a Raymarine X-30 core pack autopilot and ST70 control head. I have ST 60 speed log, depth, and wind, C 70 chartplotter at the nav station (backup) and C80 chartplotter at the steering stand. I have the Demo of the MacENC software, but there are a number of question as how the software will integrate with my Raymarine system.

What interface do need between Macbook Pro and the Raymarine SeaTalk, Seatalk NG or NMEA-2000/NMEA-0183?

Can I use the Navionics CF card and the Raymarine card reader with MacEnc or will I be forced to purchase the charts again through x-traverse.com?

How do I transfer waypoints between MacEnc and my C series chartplotter?

When a Garmin Colorado or Oregon GPS is connected to your Mac via the Garmin USB cable it will show up as a drive. A "GPX" folder can be found on the Garmin drive. GPSNavX and MacENC can export waypoints and routes as a GPX file (Use "Transfer" "To GPX File..." on the "Waypoints" or "Routes menu"). Do so to the "GPX" folder and the Garmin Colorado or Oregon will import the waypoints and/or routes.

Revision:

Just a note of warning that the latest Colorado 400C internal software (v3.40) has a bug that it does not support NMEA data over the PC interface cable. This prevents it from working for real-time plotting with GPSNavX or MacENC. I am working with Garmin to resolve this. This has no impact on transfering waypoints, routes or tracks. The Oregon 400C works fine using NMEA data and the PC interface cable (Combined with a Keyspan USB to Serial Adapter).
