Brazil DHN charts updated in Marine GeoGarage

I'm running a Powerbook G4 (powerPC chip), 1.67 Ghz, 2 GB of RAM. It's about 6 years old, but still runs like a champ.

I'm looking for vector chart options. I have MacEnc. I can't purchase Navionics charts because you need an intel chip to run them.

I've used Navionics gold charts to get from San Francisco to Australia, but the (newer) computer they ran on belongs to a crew member who is leaving. Their one stop packages were great to know that you had the coverage for the area you purchased.

Where else can I buy charts from that has a decent interface to buy lots of charts? I'm a cruiser and looking to purchase overview down to harbor/berthing level charts from Sydney up the Australian Coast to Papua New Guinea and on to Thailand.
As far as I can tell, Chartworld's interface is terrible. Their chart manager would be great but it is a PC program. Can't use it. Do I really have to find every chart I want one at a time, and then just wonder/hope that I got them all?

I looked at the IC-ENC website and found their cataloge nearly unbearable to use as well. Perhaps a slow internet connection contributes to that, but it's really not usefully easy to use.

Can anyone help me with a suggestion or plan?

I'm interested in reading forums like this one on my iPhone. I downloaded the app ForumRunner (http://www.forumrunner.net/), but none of the forums I read use it. Does anyone know of an app that doesn't require the forum to join in order to use the app on the iPhone?

Hi I remember that it should be a way to move purchased navionics charts to a new iphone if you lost it or destroyed it etc. It didnt happens to me but I will get the new one now and what I remember you have to enable the old one. However I dont remember the way to do it any?

I recently found an app for the iPad called Air Display. Supposedly, it allows the iPad to act as a second monitor for a laptop or desktop on the same wifi network. The pitch evidently is to allow an iPad to reside next to another computer and increase screen real estate for menus, etc. My question is, if anyone has tried it, can it be set up so that I can mirror my laptop screen, which would be below, to an iPad on a flybridge as long as I have a wireless router set up—thus allowing me to run MacENC on the laptop below in the dry and out of the sun but control it from above and to save me from having to take the larger laptop back and forth? I assume I would have to still have an RF mouse/keyboard unless the app allows the iPad's touch screen to control the mouse on the laptop.

Has anyone used a Big Bay monitor as a mirror monitor at a second station? We are thinking about mounting one on the flybridge to mirror the MacBook Pro below. Connection issues? Compatibility issues? Are the on-unit controls enough or will we still need an RF mouse and/or keyboard?

Sailing in Patagonia, I am planning to buy an ipad + inavX.
I am just wondering how I could connect inavX to my iridium to get the grib files. Is it possible to use the ipad as a stand alone terminal or do I need to use an other computer to get the grib file and then transfer it to the ipad?

Recommendation needed from folks world cruising..... Where do you draw the line on charts? You need to have paper charts as a back up. If you have an iphone and/or ipad you would like to have the same charts. You need charts for your MacEnc. Lastly the Garmin or Raymarine Chart plotter. Your boat bucks get pleated quickly.

How should one approach this chart overload?
