Any chance we'll see this? I'm refitting to Simrad now, and having radar on my macbook in the cabin would be sweet!

  Swing-away arm for ipad
Posted by: Copasetic - June 21, 2010 16:31 - Forum: iPad - Replies (6)

I have seen chart plotters on swing away arms so they can viewed from the cockpit and swung into the cabin when not needed. I imagine this could be done with the iPad. Does anyone have a suggestion as to finding an arm which does not cost an arm and a leg?
Thanks

iDrifter - Anchorfix-monitoring for the iPhone
Posted by: greenturtleapps - June 21, 2010 05:18 - Forum: iPhone - No Replies

The program iDrifter serves the continuous monitoring of the position (anchorfix) for anchoring yachts. The program displays graphically the current drift of the yacht relating to the anchor – selectable either as a radar graph or as a map graph in Google Maps.

For this purpose, the current position in relation to the anchor will be identified once per second and digitized as a dot on the display. As soon as a specific distance –adjustable by the skipper- to the anchor fix will be exceeded, an acoustic alarm will resound.

  inavx keeps dropping tcp/ip
Posted by: Cirruscloud - June 20, 2010 14:08 - Forum: iNavX - Replies (1)

I just downloaded inav X on iphone and I've been slaving the instruments from MacEnc operating in simulated mode. It will work for a few minutes after I manually enter the computers IP address in MacEnc and in inavx. But then the iphone loses the connection and the alarm goes off.

I return to the system preferences, and see that the IP address has changed. Re-enter the address and it works again... Is this because I'm plugged into the internet?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.

ipad Navionics app and/or iNavX app
Posted by: dreuge - June 18, 2010 08:25 - Forum: Navionics Marine for iPhone - Replies (21)

I just got an ipad 3G, and I have purchased the Navionics Marine US Central HD ipad app for $19.99. I am quite impressed by the basic features of the app and the charts themselves (which I read was the Navi. gold). As a GPSNavX user, I am think about getting iNavX ($49.99).

I am a bit confused about the chart options for iNavX. In reading posts, it sounds like one needs to purchase Navionics charts for $49.99 in addition to purchasing iNavX. Are these Navionics charts different from the Navionics app chart? I would hate to spend the $99.98 to find that charts are really no better that the $19.99 app.

iPhone 4 does include same GPS receiver as iPad 3G. This is great news!
