I've been wanting a Navtex box so I can read Navtex data on my Mac. Almost all boxes out there require software to interpret the data, and are PC. I don't want to contaminate/clutter my system with Windose, and, while I could probably run under Codeweaver's CrossOver, I don't want to rely on that either.

I have now purchased a Weather InfoBox WiB2 from Mörer. This is a cigarette pack sized dual band receiver with rechargable batteries and an internal antenna. It is self-powered for up to three days. When you plug it in via USB it acts like a USB memory stick. Unusually, it presents its data in HTML format and this can be browsed with Safari or similar.

Of course the internal antenna means reception is limited, and would be lousy inside my aluminium boat, but it can be left outside or carried in a pocket, and just plugged in when data is to be examined. I have it running here in Southsea, UK and it is picking up transmissions from Niton (Isle of Wight) and from Holland, amongst others. It is rather good being able to have it with me when away from the boat.

Has anyone input the polars for a Beneteau 36.7 in Sail Timer? I can't seem to make the manufacturer polars match up exactly to the sail timer form. Anyone get this done? Would you mind sharing the correct setup with the rest of the community?

Hi, I'm a happy user of the app and use it for inshore racing and touring in The Netherlands.

Is it possible to select multiple routes to display in the chart?

I have created several routes with a waypoint database for a passage. Depending on the tide and weather I have several options which route to take over the shallows. But at the moment I can only select one tickbox at a time to display in the Routes screen. Is it possible to select more routes instead of only one in the next release?

What do the green and red triangles/pointers on the left and right side of the heading banner indicate? They're not always visible.

I have a white plastic MacBook running Lion and MacENC etc. and at home an ageing iMac G5 stuck on Leopard.

I am planning to replace both and want to avoid being split across two machines. I am considering a MacBook with a solid state drive for reasons of speed, reliability with movement at sea and power efficiency. I am drawn to a MacBook Air with a Thunderbolt display at home. I tried this combination out in an Apple Store recently and it was excellent. I had the MacBook Air closed and a separate keyboard and trackpad. I was very impressed.

On board I would like to have a larger screen than my present 13" one. I have been looking at the possibility of a separate monitor. For power considerations I would want to avoid running a mains-powered one through an inverter . Does anyone have experience or suggestions regarding a 12V-powered monitor? The only ones I have located so far are actually 12V TVs and, as well as having lots of unwanted functionality (like tuners and storage for recording), the screen resolution in dots/inch is quite poor - I would just get a coarser enlarged copy of my screen, not more information.

In the absence of a separate monitor I would want to go for at least a 15" MacBook, which rules out an Air model for now. May be a larger screen Air will appear in due course.

Any thoughts, advice or experience would be welcome.

I'd welcome thoughts on the choice between using BT or wi-fi to get data from an NMEA network onto an iPad. For example, the Shipmodul MiniPlex-2USB/BT or MiniPlex-2Wi (There are likely other choices than those).

Hello, I am in need of a link / explanation to get text weather forecasts by email to my iridium telephone. Can anyone point me in the correct direction.

I am using a MacBook Air with PolarView / PolarCom / UUplus. I have that all working very well. I am able to download GRIBs fine. Now looking for text weather data.
