I'm glad iNavX has an anchor alarm feature. I've been using it many times in the past months. We've been cruising in the mediterranean and anchorages have been mostly small, sometimes crowded, calas.
I encountered the following problems and annoyances:

- Trigger-distance to be set in nm, a bit abstract. (How far is 0.03 nm?). => Can't this be changed to meters/feet? Would be far more intuitive.

- Many times I was woken up because of a false alarm. The reason: Momentarily bad GPS reception (HPE > 200) put the position outside of the allowed circle, triggering the alarm. => It would be nice to be able to set the allowed HPE of fixes to be considered. Or be able to say which number of consecutive outside-fixes are required to trigger the alarm. This way you could avoid this type of false alarm.

- Modifying the anchor position / center point: Not possible to modify the center. => It should be possible to move the center point without having to set a new alarm. Like moving a waypoint.

- Alarm sound: The default sound is a matter of taste (it works very well to wake you up), but you should be able to shut it up instantaneously when you turn off the alarm. Since the sound clip is rather long, it will play completely to the end even if the alarm is turned off in the mean time. Using a shorter clip would improve this behaviour.

- Accessibility: The feature is in a very inconvenient place. Having to leave the chart screen, two levels back, and then having to reselect the chart etc to get back is very annoying. => Can't the anchor alarm feature be integrated via the icons on the bottom of the screen?

I'm enjoying using iNavX, just like MacENC and GPSNavX and I've been very happy with the support so far. It would be great if this feedback could also be taken into account for future updates.

I am a new member in this forum and i would like for your help. Few days ago i download the gpsnavx programm from app store for my laptop macbook pro.
The problem i have is that i don't know the way how to download the Navionics charts for this program.
I will appreciate if some of you give to me detailed instructions.

I wish to buy either INavX or Navionics for my IPad and I read a lot about both programs as well as comparrisons.

However I could not find out whether the below three facts are correct or not

1-Navionics does not have an anchor alarm but INavX does.
2-I can not add my own text on the charts for the places I visit (such as my own info on the bays I anchor, the marinas I visit, my favourite restaurant in a specific location on the chart and e.t.c) in INavX but I can do that with Navionics
3- Navioncs shows more detailed info on the chart items

Can someone please help me and tell me whether the above are correct or not. I currently use Memory Map with my windows phone and it has both anchor alarm and the text feature and I use both features alot.

Hi, I see 3.2.8 can import GRB data from x-Traverse and email.
Would it be possible to add import from text file or from cut and paste? Reason, we will be traveling with ssb and getting grins from PC. I can pull files from PC via http file exchange, but I have no way to get email on iPad at sea.

Can I get some help to figure out how to load them in inavx?

I am seeing an increasing number of inappropriate postings, typically advertising unrelated goods and services (e.g. handbags), especially in the Windows/BootCamp topic, of course. Since I get an email when there is a new posting, this is annoying and surely against the list's Acceptable Use Policy?

Who deals with this? Please can they attend to it firmly.

My iPad 2 with iNavX was fantastic to use this Cowes Week. The ability to switch between iNavX and TideTech PDFS on Goodreader was great.

IPad is just getting better and better for sailing.

Mr. Tides 3 is reported to have problems (read: it crashes after a few minutes) on Lion. I'm investigating (as soon as some installs are completed) and will post more when I know what's going on. The code for Mr. Tides is pretty old (5+ years!) so it's going to take me a while to figure out what's going on.

While iNavX does not offer a dedicated MOB button, the same functionality can be achieved by following these steps:

iPhone

1) From the Chart view, single tap the position icon.

2) From the menu select "Waypoint".

3) Tap the newly created waypoint on the Chart view. The waypoint may still be under the position icon.

4) Tap the Waypoint name on the Chart view (looks like a button).

5) Select "Goto" from the menu to begin navigation.


iPad

1) From the Chart view, single tap the position icon.

2) From the menu select "Goto" to begin navigation.


Note: Navigation to the waypoint can be cancelled by selecting "Cancel Goto" on the "Waypoints" tab or tapping the active waypoint on the chart twice and selecting "Cancel Goto".
