Apple came through in less than a day to release the fix for the problems that 1.94.2 had. Now it's safe again to use AyeTides, no more hangs on updating and no problems with incorrect alerts showing up. Whew! Still embarrassed by the whole affair, just glad Apple sped things up and didn't leave everyone hanging for days and days.

Unfortunately the 1.94.2 update that was released just last week has a big problem in it. For existing users it hangs when updating the database, and for new users it mistakenly thinks that it is a pirated application and won't run. I've fixed the problems and have submitted the 1.94.3 update, and requested an expedited review from Apple so hopefully they will get back to me quickly. In the meanwhile I suggest that if you haven't updated to 1.94.2, then don't! Wait for .3 to show up instead. If you've already updated, then don't run AyeTides until the new update is available.

I hate when things like this happen. And I'm terribly embarrassed too.

I'm in the process of building a system around MacENC. I have a Catalina 22 and will be starting from the ground up. I wanted to your input before making my purchases.
1. Macbook Air- running Lion loaded with the latest version of MacENC
2. Connected by USB to the ShipModul Miniplex 2-USB
3. NMEA 0183 Inputs into the ShipModul Miniplex- Garmin 17x HVS GPS, a B744V transducer (speed/depth/temp), Simrad Windvane.
4. NMEA 0183 Outputs from the ShipModul Miniplex- Simrad R10 VHF with DSC and a Simrad IS20 Combi display mounted in the cockpit using a SimNet AT10 Converter.

Couple of questions.
What do you think of the above set-up?
Can you have 3 simultaneous outputs from the multiplexer ie 2 NMEA and 1 USB?

I've posted some more info on the build and needless to say I was pretty excited when I came across this site.

Hi there, I am currently trying to set my iPad up as a navigational aid for use when racing round the Solent and offshore, Fastnet etc as its a great tool in these circumstances.

To assist with racing stratagy/tactcics I am overlaying hi Res weather gribs from Predictwind along with tidal data gribs from tidetech. However this is proving rather clunky and has its issues.

Has anyone else had success achieving these aims?

Would be good to know if any other racers out there are using inavx and if there is enough of us perhaps form a subgroup.

Every year, we participate in a 24 hour race on Lake Macquarie, north of Sydney, Australia (http://www.heavencanwait.com.au).

Because access to the lake is through a channel that's only 2.5-3 m deep at the best of times, the Hydrographic Service has never properly surveyed the lake.

Hence, the charts of the lake through the likes of Fugawi don't give critical depth, hazards and nav marks information (if you have nav maps of Australia, check out the Lake Macquarie chart and you'll see what I mean).

However, it's possible to access "not for navigation" charts from NSW Maritime (in PDF format, and therefore saveable in a wide range of formats) which give all the required info, including pretty good depth indications, all nav marks, etc.

We've used these successfully in the past using public domain nav software, and letting us accurately plot our courses (and avoid hazards/grounding). We import the charts in the required format, then "map" (sorry, not sure of the correct terminology) it to the program using 2-3 known locations.

Is it possible to save such a chart in a format that can then be imported by an iPad/iPhone navigation/GPS App so we can use it during this event?

I upgraded to Lion and now Mac ENC doesn't recognize my USB GPS.

Any suggestions??
