  IPad or MacBook Pro
Posted by: Eclipsemullet - July 9, 2011 05:56 - Forum: MacENC & GPSNavX - Replies (5)

Should I continue to try and get my MBP to talk to to my Raymarine gear or ditch it and concentrate on iNavX on my iPad?

Hello,
does anybody know whether MacENC will run under the new OSX and whether a appropriate driver for BU-353 will be available?

  iPad Battery Replacement Issues
Posted by: jagasail - July 7, 2011 06:21 - Forum: iPad - Replies (1)

One of my ipads is having battery problems. Already been through all the battery drain issues and it is still covered by warranty, so having it replaced is not really the problem. What is the problem is I understand Apple simply replaces your ipad. If this is correct, I assume the new one would have a new serial number, thus making my Navionics charts unusable (they're already loaded on my primary and backup ipads). Has anyone faced this? Is it possible to 'deactivate' apps/charts on an ipad? Any other options?

  iNavX on iPhone/iPad
Posted by: OzSailor2 - July 6, 2011 23:12 - Forum: iNavX - Replies (1)

I've had iNavX on my iPhone(s) for some years, and love it. I've now bought an iPad, and as expected, iNavX is now on it. However, what is the story with the charts I purchased for the iPhone (Australia and NZ)? Do I need to purchase another set for the iPad, or can they be used on both devices?

  MacENC can't open MiniPlex-2USBBT-ATSerial
Posted by: Mollymawk - July 5, 2011 13:45 - Forum: MacENC & GPSNavX - Replies (5)

Hi

New to this software and to Macs so I expect I've missed something basic. However, I've the latest version of the above multiplexer and it connects fine to Miniplex2 software on my MacBook Pro via bluetooth and I can see info from an AIS and a Garmin GPS plotter and depth sounder on the screen within MiniPlex2. The presence of the necessary serial port is noted in the ports drop down list in the MacENC GPS connection settings menu but it can't connect.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Tim

tides and currents accuracy, at least in the Pacific Northwest...
Posted by: bjm.holleygmail.com - July 4, 2011 10:40 - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Hello!

My husband and I are soon to be off on our first offshore cruise together, so I was looking for tides information for my iphone, and I was quite tempted to buy the $9.99 Navionics app instead of the $9.99 AyeTides until I read this thread at sailnet suggesting that there's a significant discrepancy in tide and current data among various products here in the Pacific Northwest...

http://www.sailnet.com/forums/pacific-no...-data.html

AyeTides is a very much closer to the original sailnet poster's preferred source, the one he considers most accurate, than is Navionics. Any idea what's up here?

  Autopilot
Posted by: flash gordon - July 3, 2011 06:22 - Forum: PolarNavy - Replies (3)

I recently interfaced Polar Navy navigation software with my Tecnautic autopilot. It works great. The boat automatically follows my route, turns at the waypoints and steers the route heading very precisely.

My setup uses a Mackbook Pro 15' laptop, Pharos 500 usb GPS, Keyspan USA-19HS usb serial adapter to connect the Tecnautic autopilot.

I highly recommend Polar Navy navigation software. It does what it is supposed to do very well and there support is second to none.

Mac Enc, Furuno GP-32 GPS and Ship Modul Multiplexer
Posted by: Alastair - July 1, 2011 02:07 - Forum: MacENC & GPSNavX - Replies (9)

Has anyone else got this set up who could tell me why I cannot transfer my waypoints form my Mac Enc to the GPS. I go through the transfer window and that confirms that it see the GPS and says it is sending the waypoints. Indeed the Furuno also seems to play its part because it clears off all its existing waypoint information.Unfortunately instead of seeing all the new way points in the waypoint list I see nothing.

Is it a matter of languages in which case what should the settings be ?
