iNavX can overlay the marine chart with Theyr High Resolution Weather. Wind, Presure, Wave Height, Current, Precipitation Rate and Air/Sea Temperature forecasts are available.

1) Add the Theyr High Resolution subscription to an X-Traverse Account by clicking this link..

2) Launch iNavX.

3) Select "Preferences" "X-Traverse Account" and enter email and password for X-Traverse account.

4) Open a chart. If using a raster chart, choose one that covers a larger area.

5) Select "Forecast Tab".

6) Select "Theyr Weather Parameters".

7) Select the Region (i.e. North America).

8) Select the Mode (i.e. Wind Speed).

9) Select "Save" button.

10) Select "Chart" tab.

11) Use the arrow button to advance to next forecast or use the animate button to cycle through the forecasts.

12) To select a different Region or Mode or change the transparency select the button with the forecast date/time.

Note: An X-Traverse account with a Theyr High Resolution Weather subscription and an internet connection are required.

Hi All looking for some advice and help on NMEA over TCP for iNavx

First and most simple question is does anyone know if iNavx supports GPSD delivering NMEA data via TCP? If that answer is, it doesn't then stop reading and smile at the time ive wasted :p

I have installed and have working a copy of GPSD on a Raspberry Pi, it has successfully connected to the GPS and the supplied routines cgps and xgps give me a proper fix.

I have invoked it with the -G flag which allows it make NMEA data available over its network connection. (pasted below is the entire line its invoked with)

gpsd -N -D3 -G -F /var/run/gpsd.sock /dev/ttyACM0

If put in the correct ip address and port number into iNavx it will connect and receives the welcome below from GPSD but does not appear to send the ?WATCH command to start the data stream

If I connect to the port on the Raspberry from a mac with the following command 'nc 192.168.1.20 2947' and then send it a '?WATCH={"enable":true,"json":true}' command it streams data perfectly to the Mac - However Opencpn on the Mac does not seem to want to work with it

Im am wondering if iNavx simply does not support GPSD or if I have got some basic principles wrong

Any help, clues etc that anyone can give would be much appreciated.

I have been planning a mixed NMEA0183/SeaTalkng installation also incorporating a Standard Horizon 2150 and em-trak B100 AIS transceiver via a ShipModul Miniplex-2Wi. I sent a schematic to em-trak customer support, received a very prompt and thorough response, and a follow up query was answered and a custom configuration file sent within a few hours. Never encountered this level of service in this industry before. I also have praise for ShipModul. Brookhouse iMux on the other hand hasn't answered my emails and I had no luck trying to order directly.

Is there a way to set iNavX up so navigating across the dateline (which we do frequently in Fiji) doesn't mean a trip around the world?

I have been using the Navionics 'Austalasia' app, which doesn't have a problem with scrolling back and forth across the dateline.

So I was surprised when I purchased iNavX with the same Navionics charts (I think), the edge of the chart is right in the middle of our cruising area. To scroll to the next anchorage, I have to scroll around the world.

While I like the extra features of iNavX, it's almost unusable in Fiji because of this issue.

Maxsea (a PC-based charting program) has an 'Antimerdian' checkbox in the settings that makes the charts 'Pacific centered' vs Atlantic centered.

Any way I can set up iNavX to be 180-centered vs 0-centered??

I am tryout the trial version on a MacBook Pro The charts for the US east coast are already on the computer, but Polar navy won't recognize them, and when I try to download new charts, all I get is "Chart Index error data download failed". What am I doing wrong.

How difficult is connecting the boat's instrumentation to the computer. Sorry to be so rudimentary. I'm computer literate but a long way from nerd status; have done very little with networking. I have a Raymarine A70 and ST 60 instruments. The A 70 puts out SeaTalk and NMEA 0183. (Unfortunately I recently learned there are 4 different SeaTalks.)

Will PolarNavy be able to talk/walk me through hook up? I see suggestions on this forum for several several devices and methods but may need more detail.

Won't do anything until spring. Water gets hard in Lake Superior.
